CREATIVE & TECHNICAL EXPLORATIONS + HOUDINI TOOLS
This is a collection of technical and creative explorations in Houdini and Redshift, with a few C4D learnings. This includes the development of procedural animation and modeling tools to increase workflow efficiency.

CELL CRAWLING ANIMATION + TOOL
This clip is a demonstration of a cell-crawling tool I created in Houdini. The animation itself features abstract cellular landscape designs inspired by underwater macro photography.
The tool automatically creates a cell that crawls across any terrain model, without simulation. It constrains the cell to the surface while following a curve of the user's choosing. There are also parameters for adjusting the endfeet.
C4D MICROVILLI ROPE SIM
This clip of a coccus bacteria adhering to microvilli was the result of experimentation with C4D's rope simulation tag. I took inspiration from underwater photography and generative art to try and create a unique, detailed look.
LIPID MEMBRANE TOOL
This clip features an early version of my lipid bilayer Houdini tool, used within a client project. This tool creates lipid membranes that hold hero and background proteins of the user's choosing. It's been since updated to give the proteins more natural rotations.
The tool has parameters controlling membrane shape, lipid motion, background simplification options, and protein placement.
APOPTOSIS TOOL
This is a Houdini tool that produces an apoptosis animation from any cell model. It uses a particle sim and a VDB workflow to create this effect.
Users are able to control the speed of apoptosis, the size and amount of blebs that are generated, the turbulence of blebs, and the surface undulations of the cell.
NEURON GROWTH EXPERIMENT + TOOL
The above clip was an experiment on neuronal growth and attribute-based texturing. From the learnings, I created a neuron growth tool/neuron generator.
It includes parameters controlling the appearance of the branches, and animation parameters such as growth speed.
